Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains

  • Stores
  • There is a Food City located less than a mile away. Go down Hidden Hills road and turn right on 321. Its on your right in less than a mile.
  • Wal-Mart. The nearest Wal-Mart is in Sevierville, about 15 miles away.
  • Other grocery stores -  Kroger, Publix and other stores are located in Pigeon Forge and Sevierville.
  • Dining Out
  • The Gatlinburg area has hundreds of restaurants with every type of cuisine. Use Google or dining apps to search. A few close by the cabin (*means we haven’t been there yet):
  • Quick eats:
  • There’s a Subway and McDonalds on 321 towards downtown Gatlinburg about ½ mile away on the left.
  • Joe and Pops Sub shop. On 321 towards Gatlinburg ½ mile away on right. A step above Subway.
  • Little House of Pancakes. One of many pancake houses in Gatlinburg. On 321 towards Gatlinburg 1 ½ miles away on right.
  • Finer dining – a few different possibilities -there are plenty more to choose from.
  • Three Jimmys – Behind Subway on Glades Road. Higher priced BBQ and American food. Some live music.*
  • Crystelle Creek Restaurant. Left on 321 about ¼ mile. Steaks and Ribs.*
  • Fox and Parrot Tavern. On Glades Road, about 2 miles towards Sevierville. Good British Pub in the Smokies.
  • Alamo Steakhouse. Right on 321 about 1.5 miles towards downtown Gatlinburg.
  • Taste of Italy. Near Food City.
  • Pizza and other
  • Dominoes- right on 321
  • Big Bear Pizza and Subs – right on 321, down a mile – takeout only. They may deliver also.
  • Things to do/ recommendations:
  • Smoky Mountains National Park
  • Stop at the visitors center and purchase the guides – its about $5 for a packet that gives information on motor trails, hiking trails, sites of interest, and everything else- well worth it.
  • Take a drive through the park to Cherokee, NC. It is a beautiful drive. Be sure to stop at some of the scenic overlooks and Newfoundland Gap. Note- the road may be closed due to weather, fallen trees or snow, so check first.
  • Downtown Gatlinburg
  • Ride the trolley to downtown. You can park at the police station/city hall (right on 321, about ½ mile up on your left).
  • At this time its free.
  • Enjoy downtown- there are plenty of shops, restaurants, and attractions.
  • Dollywood.
  • You can either drive to Dollywood or use the Pink trolley to get there.
  • Pigeon Forge.
  • There are go cart tracks, arcades and plenty of shopping.
  • Visit the “Island at Pigeon Forge” for upscale restaurants, a ferris wheel and shopping.
  • Other notable activities
  • Hiking in the national park
  • Rafting and tubing down the rivers and streams.
  • Cave tours
  •  Gatlinburg community center- Turn left on 321 and its about 1 mile away, left on Sports World Blvd. and follow signs. Bowling, indoor pool, racquetball, ping pong and basketball.
  • Explore the shops in the Arts and Crafts District.
